Continuing education committee
CPD AND FURTHER TRAINING
Responsibility for the design, accreditation and international orientation of SAA continuing professional development
By developing a programme and guidelines for continuing professional development (CPD), the SAA is complying with the recommendations of international actuarial associations and safeguarding the reputation of its members vis-à-vis representatives of other national organizations in the actuarial field. However, the overarching goal of the CPD program is to ensure and enhance the quality and reputation of the actuarial profession in the Swiss financial center and beyond its borders.
In addition, the CPD program offers the opportunity to involve SAA members more closely in the activities of the Association. With a binding CPD program, the SAA gains more active resources for the existing SAA commissions and specialist and working groups, as well as more participants for its events.
The CPD Commission appointed by the SAA Board is responsible for the entire CPD program of the SAA and reports directly to the Training and Science Division.
Continuing education covers the three main areas:
- Technical knowledge
- Professionalism
- General business and management knowledge
The Commission is responsible for the accreditation of continuing education activities (presentations, workshops, summer schools, etc.) and also for monitoring the continuing education activities of the SAA actuaries. It is in close contact with the Swiss Chamber of Pension Fund Experts (SKPE) and keeps abreast of international developments and requirements in the area of continuing education and continuously adapts the continuing education regulations.
