Study Actuary SAA
Obtaining the title "Actuary SAA"

The title "Actuary SAA" can be obtained by anyone who fulfills the requirements of the SAA 2023 syllabus and can demonstrate at least 3 years of relevant actuarial practice.

The application for the Actuary SAA course is submitted to the SAA Examination Board. This decides which examinations are still required to fulfill the SAA syllabus.

A one-off dossier fee of CHF 200 is charged upon admission.

Once all examinations have been passed and three years of professional experience can be demonstrated, candidates apply for admission to the SAA Actuary Examination Colloquium. Candidates who do not have to take any additional examinations due to their academic training apply directly for admission to the SAA Actuary Examination Colloquium at the point in time when three years of professional experience can be demonstrated.

The provisions for admission to the examination colloquium are set out in the SAA Actuary Examination Regulations.

The Actuary SAA examination colloquium takes place at least once a year. The date, venue and costs are advertised on the Internet. Candidates must attend the SAA's "Professionalism" course before being definitively admitted to the SAA Actuary Examination Colloquium. The course takes place twice a year. The date, location and costs are advertised on the Internet (SAA Actuary Examination Regulations Art. 19).

After successful completion of the Actuary SAA examination colloquium, the SAA Examination Commission applies to the SAA Board for the candidate to be admitted to the SAA Actuaries Section. The Board decides on the application.
